I will love thee…
“The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation and my high tower. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.” Psalm 18:2&3
How foolish David would have been had he said. “In my distress I took the matter into my own hands.” No, rather he said, “In my distress I called upon the Lord.” We have no other option when caught in our distressing situations. Otherwise we compound the suffering. And He answers our cries for help. Psalm 18: 6
“Cast thy burden upon the Lord and He shall sustain thee; He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.” Psalm 55:22

All things do…
We must believe that the God of all the earth will do right and that all things do “work together for good to them that love God…called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
When we have to suffer tribulation, distress, persecution, famine or war, we can be assured of God’s presence and of our ability to conquer through Him who loves us.
“Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us” Romans 8:37

Ode to receive… (The receivers parte dos)
“O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who has set thy glory above the heavens.” Psalm 8:1
“She is the tree of life to them that lay hold upon her; and happy is every one that retaineth her.” Proverbs 3:18
“He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth Him that sent me. He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.” Matthew 10: 40-42
Receiving Christ’s Word and becoming like Him in our conduct will unavoidably mean being treated by the world the way that it treated Christ. The believer is privileged to participate in the fellowship of His suffering and it is only as we are willing to bear His reproach and suffer for His sake that we are promised that we will reign with Him. (Amen)

The receivers…
“Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.” Matthew 10:8
Surely the grace of God goes far beyond our small expectations.
“Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee or forsake thee.” Hebrews 13:5

Good Reminder…
“Lead me , O Lord in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.” Psalm 5:8
We are taught this in the Word a ton and at Church, it is always a good reminder…
Many have been healed of an incurable disease as a result of prayer. Others bave been saved from some tragic accident or from making a serious mistake. There are many people for whom we need to pray. Much can be accomplished through the prayers of a righteous person.
Abraham prayed to the Lord to save the city of Sodom for 10 righteous men, only one was found, his nephew Lot so the Lord removed Lot and his family from the city before it became a flaming inferno. Genesis 18:23-25
“Confess your faults one to another, and pray for one another that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” James 6:16

What He wants…
“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also” Matthew 6:21
The only response acceptable to God is faith in Christ and in His word. Abraham’s faith accounted him to righteousness, he believed. God was the object of Abraham’s faith and He made him a solemn promise with respect to a land and a nation, we are that nation. God graciously revealed Himself as the Lord of the covenant – He is a sheild and a very great reward.
We must believe that He is, He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6

Calamity…
“No calamity will ever bring only evil to us, if we will immediately take it in fervent prayer to God. Even as we take shelter under a tree during a downpour of rain, we may unexpectedly find fruit on it’s branches. And when we flee to God, taking refuge beneath the shadow of His wing, we will always find more in Him than we have before seen or known.
… make this story your own…” Streams in the Desert- L.B Cowman
I thought this was very comforting in our uncertain times right now with the economic unease and political unrest… lets make this story our own…

Two great scriptures…
…for a beautiful fall Saturday.
“Wait upon the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thy heart: wait, I say, on the Lord”
(Psalm 27:14)
“…I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.” (Genesis 15:1)
